The Chicago Missionary Study Class is an organization formed to support the missionaries commended by Chicago area Assemblies. Started 1914, classes are hosted by different assemblies throughout the city on the second Saturday of each month (except December). Sessions begin at 6:30pm and typically consist of a report from one or more missionaries. The meeting is usually followed by light refreshments and a time to visit with the missionaries. In March, our annual conference is held which consists of afternoon sessions, a dinner. and an evening session.
The Chicago Missionary Study Class has for years maintained the Chicago Missionary Guest Apartments in Glen Ellyn. Jim and Janice Drechsel currently serve as host managers. Earlier managers have been Sally Weidner, Kirk and Paula Lithander, Harry and Jean Williams, Bob and Lois Sawyer, Steve and Diane Richards and Alister and Teresa Hill. The building contains six apartments, five for furloughed or visiting missionaries, and one for the manager. The six apartments are ‘adopted’ by assemblies who are responsible for decorating, an annual cleaning, and supplies.
